Ugandan President Museveni meets with IRP
 

In May 2008 12 senior U.S. editors and producers traveled to Uganda for a 10-day International Reporting Project (IRP) Gatekeeper Editors trip. They were accompanied by Ben de la Cruz of Washingtonpost.com, who shot the following videos that highlight many of the topics explored during the trip.

Recent studies in Uganda and elsewhere show that male circumcision helps reduce the transmission of HIV/AIDS. Dr. Joseph Kagaayi, medical officer at the Rakai Health Services Program in southwestern Uganda, explains the significance of these findings:

Problems with infrastructure are keeping Uganda from realizing its potential as an agricultural provider. The following video provides a firsthand look at the country’s poor roads:

The editors met with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni for a two and a half hour interview on a wide range of topics, including HIV/AIDS, population, agricultural development and economic growth. Museveni answers the Gatekeepers' questions in the following excerpts:
