Eliza Barclay is a freelance journalist based in Mexico City. For
three years she has written about Latin America for a variety of
publications including The New York Times, Fortune, Slate, The New Republic Online, BusinessWeek, National Geographic News and the Houston Chronicle. In the region, she has reported from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, El Salvador, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Brazil. Previously she was a correspondent for United Press International in Mexico. She graduated with a B.S. in Conservation and Resource Studies from the University of California at Berkeley.
